Biography by
Jeff Carter
Formerly a
semi-professional musician and broadcaster, I am now the organist at Bancroft
Church in Milton Keynes. At one Sunday evening service about a year ago, an
eleven-year-old boy gave a solo performance of a song, unaccompanied. I had
never seen him before, as it was his first visit to the church. His voice, style
and delivery of the song left me (and most of the others in the congregation for
that matter) open-mouthed! I could not believe what I had just heard! From just
that one song, it was clear to me that I had witnessed someone who had that
little bit of magic, that indefinable 'something' that makes him a potential
star of the future. I approached his family afterwards and quickly enlisted him
for a show that we were producing later in the year.
As things progressed, I agreed to do some coaching with him and I quickly discovered that Tyler (now aged twelve) was not just your ordinary run-of-the-mill talented kid. He had a personality that I had very rarely seen in the entertainment business. Never before have I met anyone who has that amount of talent and still has time to be extremely polite, pleasant and will not hesitate to give help to anyone who needs it. In short, apart from being exceptionally talented, he is quite the most amiable young man one could ever wish to meet.
Tyler is not only
a tremendously gifted singer but he is also an extremely talented dancer. And we
can add to that a flair for comedy, which I believe will develop dramatically as
he gets older. As one who was attached to the entertainment industry in one way
or another for over thirty years, I hesitate before making any sweeping
exaggerated statements but I can honestly say that Tyler is, by far, the most
exciting young prospect I have ever seen. Whether he is singing, dancing or
performing comedy, he does so with the style and professionalism you would
normally expect from more seasoned artists. If he maintains the same level of
effort and enthusiasm that he has now, mark my words, he will be a household
name by the time he is twenty.
Working with him,
it is easy to forget that he is just twelve years old. His command of the stage,
his authoritative delivery and his general stage presence belie his tender
years! The congregation at Bancroft Church will testify to his unique ability to
evoke floods of tears with his superb voice as easily as he can create howls of
laughter with his wicked sense of humour. For my part, it has been an absolute
joy and a genuine privilege to work with him and I look forward to continuing
this association as his career in entertainment flourishes over the coming
years, as I know it will.
And he will thoroughly
deserve everything that will surely come his way!

Additional Notes, March 2008: You will probably be aware that Tyler has been ill for the past few months and has not been able to perform or even rehearse during that time. We have received many messages of goodwill and we would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to send a message. Anyone who knows Tyler will not need to be reminded that he is nothing if not determined! When he really wants to do something, it usually happens! So it would not surprise me in the slightest if he returned to the scene in the very near future with the sort of flair and personality to which we have become accustomed. Best wishes, mate! You deserve success and I'm convinced that you'll make it. Keep smiling!! Jeff
